Stunt Register Trainees Package (5 day)

Session Overview

Qualifying for the British Stunt Register is certainly no easy task, but by choosing Five Clouds Climbing then you will certainly be steered in the right direction. With a network of candidates all at different stages in their BSR journey as well as links to other instructors who are also BSR trainees you can be assured that here at Five Clouds Climbing we have a great understanding of the needs of British Stunt Register trainees. As part of Group D "Agility and Strength" the BSR currently requires a PASS at Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) for this discipline. Becoming a Rock Climbing Instructor requires becoming a climber and it is within this element that Five Clouds Climbing can be at your side. Because of this we have put together a bespoke climber's training plan to introduce you to all the aspects required of becoming an RCI. We start with a 5 day introduction to climbing. During this training, we will climb both indoors and outdoors and on both traditionally protected climbs and bolt protected sport routes. You will be coached in how to safely set up climbs and introduced to lead protected climbing. At the end of the 5 days you will be given individual feedback and a training plan as to what to do next as well as future individual mentoring along your journey. NEXT STEPS: You will then have a period of consolidation before presenting yourself for RCI training. After RCI training you will then begin a second period of consolidation in which you must get out climbing, and develop to a standard where you can competently lead traditionally graded Severe climbs and F4 graded climbs on bolt protected routes, indoors and outside. You will also need to gather experience shadowing, observing and assisting in the supervision of groups. You will also need to gain a 16 hour First Aid certificate. When you feel ready, you can then present yourself for the two day RCI assessment. The outcome of this assessment will either be a Pass, Defer or Fail. A defer means that you will need to only be reassessed in certain aspects of the syllabus, although a fail would require full re-assessment. One of the fundamental parts of this whole package though is that you get to work and learn with others who are on the same journey as you as well as having access for further "top-up" days or remote question and answer sessions and mentoring. This has been key to previous successes on the BSR from Five Clouds Climbing.
